Throw Back Thursday: Trees and Stone are Liquids Too

It was as if all mater had been moving but froze as soon as I stepped into the woods. If I could just stand still enough movement would surely begin again.

There are some places in the world where I have a sense of walking into suspended time. Hunt Lake Trail is one of those places, and, in fact, one of my favorite places in all of Manitoba. I have never actually finished the trail because I always give too much time to wandering through the tall sacred pillars of cedar with their roots entwining themselves in the precambrian rock. Here, in Christmas Day, 02021, I went with my camera and let their slow rooted wisdom work it’s way into my mind and heart.
