Today I am telling you about the first contending points of this adventure. What it is to travel with a cat. How it feels to be a nanny during work hours, and work on a boat in the evenings and weekends. And lastly, what it was like to meet my project boat for the first time. In this episode of Go-Girl I am telling you about where the rubber hits the road in this adventure. The hops and skips that make me doubtful, and the contending points that may just give me a few new gray hairs. I’m here for it all.Â

Card of the Week: Temperance

One foot in water, one foot in land, Temperance is in a liminal process of alchemizing one material into another. In this card we meet the Archetype of transformative change. Temperance is the middle card of three intense archetypes in The Fool’s journey. While many interpret Death in a negative way, in this line of three, it is not a final ending, but the doorway into alchemy–change. Sometimes it is when all options are exhausted that new ideas emerge.
But a warning, the card after Temperance is The Devil. Our brains are not in love with changing things. This is why if you are trying to change a habit you might find success in the first few days, but inevitably the brain will start warning you of danger. To the brain new things are dangerous. “Better the devil you know” is the expression. Old habits, old modalities, old patterns of thinking, behaving and being in the world resurface when there is new forged material.
Transformation is threatening–to ourselves and our communities. The bigger the change the bigger the resistence to it. But without change, without Temperance to alchemize experience, Death is not a doorway, but a ending.
The card this week invites you to step into the liminal state of transformation–eyes wide open to what has brought you here, and what is coming next.
