It is amazing how a small object found at a thrift store can be the catalyst to a major art project.
I will explain.
I found a copy of Gone Wild: An Endangered Animal Alphabet by David McLemans at the local thrift store and was immediately impressed by it.
Each letter of the alphabet is an endangered animal and is accompanied by a box containing information on class, habitat, range, threats and status.

As I flipped through the pages the wheels began turning… I thought linoleum block art as well as screen printing and began to envision a line of t-shirt along a public walk way. I have seen someone do a duct tape torso manikin…
I could make 26, each one having a t-shirt… And then I could put it along the public mural which celebrates the 1950’s in our local town…
Yea, that would be a good spot. The place that idealizes and celebrates the decade where consumerism was born into it’s current form…
And that is how the idea was born.
